Nimetz positive about FYROM-Greece talks

United Nations mediator Matthew Nimetz said that both Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) displayed a ?positive attitude? towards resolving their name dispute following his meeting with representatives from Athens and Skopje in New York on Wednesday.

Ambassador Adamantios Vassilakis and Zoran Jolevsksi had not held talks for almost a year before their meeting with Nimetz, which the UN officials said was held in a ?good atmosphere.? There are no immediate plans for any talks at a higher level.

Matthew Nimetz has been holding talks with the two sides since 1999. The Interim Accord of 13 September 1995, which was brokered by the UN, obliges the two countries to continue negotiations under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General to try to reach an agreement.
