Aegean adds Budapest to its destinations

Greece?s Aegean Airlines has announced a new direct service between Athens and the Hungarian capital of Budapest. Flights are scheduled to commence on Friday, March 9, with four flights per week.

The move comes after Hungary's state airliner Malev halted on February 3 all of its services after 66 years of operations, citing bankruptcy.

In a statement Aegean Airlines managing director Dimitris Gerogiannis noted that although the company was facing a tough winter season with the lowest demand in its lifetime, coupled with sharp rises in fuel prices and high airport fees and taxes, it was also reposnding to new opportunities.
