PAO recovers lead with win over Xanthi

Olympiakos spent 48 hours on top of the soccer Super League table after beating AEK 2-0 at home on Friday night, but Panathinaikos recovered its two-point lead after downing Xanthi 3-0 on Sunday night.

Panathinaikos bounced back to the top with a solid second-half display against Xanthi in Athens through goals by Toche, Giorgos Karagounis and Antonis Petropoulos, all in the final 15 minutes of the game.

PAOK moved up to third, downing OFI 2-0 on Crete on Saturday, ahead of its Europa League challenge at Udinese in Italy on Thursday.

Doxa Dramas beat Panetolikos 2-1 in Thessaloniki to show it has credible chances of fighting for its survival.

In other weekend games Levadiakos defeated Asteras 1-0 at Tripoli, Panionios drew 0-0 against PAS Giannina, Atromitos downed Kerkyra 3-1, and Aris shared a 1-1 draw with Ergotelis.
