Easy ride for Reds and Greens in Game 1

Olympiakos and Panathinaikos have predictably taken a 1-0 lead in the semifinal series for the Greek league, seeing off Panionios and Kolossos respectively at home on Tuesday.

Panionios gave Olympiakos a decent run for its money as it challenged the Reds throughout the first half, after which Olympiakos led 42-38, and even went ahead at the start of the second (43-42) before succumbing to the might of the Piraeus giant with an 83-67 score at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.

Panathinaikos thrashed Kolossos Rhodes 103-67 at the Olympic Sports Hall in Athens after a one-sided game from the second period onward, but the Greens are sweating over the fitness of Mike Batiste who got injured and was rushed to hospital for a scan.

Games 2 of the two best-of-five series will take place at the same courts on Thursday.
