Indian professor arrested by mistake

An Indian professor visiting Athens to take part in a conference at the Athens University of Economics and Business was arrested by mistake on Wednesday.

Police picked up the academic, who was not named, in central Athens after deeming him to be suspicious. The professor did not have a passport or other identification papers on him and was taken to the Aghios Panteleimonas precinct for checks.

Police were then able to contact officials from the university, who confirmed the academic?s identity.
