Woman jumps to her death in Corinth Canal
A 36-year-old woman jumped into the Corinth Canal on Saturday, the second such suicide in 10 days.
Coast guard officers recovered the woman?s body from the canal and transferred her to the nearest hospital, where she was confirmed dead.
Her death came just over a week after a 26-year-old man made the same 80-meter leap.
Figures released earlier this week show that suicides increased by 22 percent between 2009 and 2011, as the repercussions of the debt crisis began to be felt.
