Budget deficit lower than target

Greece?s state budget deficit in the first seven months of the year was 13.2 billion euros compared with a budget target of 14.8 billion euros, according to preliminary figures from the Finance Ministry.

The primary deficit in the period was 3.1 billion euros, compared with a target of 4.5 billion euros, the ministry said in a statement Friday.

Ordinary budget revenue was 25.8 billion euros, compared with 26.8 billion euros a year earlier, while ordinary spending was 38.6 billion euros, compared with 41.4 billion euros in the same period of 2011, according to the ministry.
