Police clash with shipyard workers [update]

Greek riot police clashed with about 350 shipyard workers, using tear gas to get the protesters to move away from the entrance to the country?s defense ministry, after the workers broke through a fence into the compound.

Police also used batons to make the protesters retreat, according to scenes broadcast live on Skai TV. The protesters are demanding to see Minister Panos Panayiotopoulos and say they haven?t been paid for 6 months.

Reports said the minister was as en route to a celebration commemorating 100 years of the end of the Balkan wars. [Skai, Bloomberg, Kathimerini]
