Suspects open fire, one arrested
Police on Friday were seeking one of two suspects who had opened fire against members of the DIAS special forces on Ilion Square, southern Athens, earlier in the day. A second suspect was taken into custody.
The incident occurred when DIAS squad officers attempted to conduct an ID check on two passengers riding in an allegedly stolen vehicle.
When the DIAS officers approached the car the suspects opened fire. One of the suspects was injured, while the other fled the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
