PPC disconnecting 30,000 customers every month
The Public Power Corporation is cutting the electricity supply to 30,000 homes and businesses each month due to unpaid bills, the firm’s managing director, Arthouros Zervos, has admitted.
The information came to light by chance when Zervos responded to a question by Democratic Left MP Vassilis Economou, who had been asking about the apparently high number of homes in the Thriasio Plain, west of Athens, losing access to the power grid.
Zervos responded by informing Economou that only about 280 homes and businesses in the industrial area are being disconnected each month, compared to 30,000 nationwide.
