Red hoopsters go from strength to strength

Olympiakos produced its best performance to date this season to thrash host Caja Laboral 89-72 at Vitoria on Friday for the Euroleague.

This was the fourth win in the group for Olympiakos which is level on points with Efes Pilsen, its next opponent, at the second spot, one point behind Zalgiris Kaunas.

The Basques were no match for the European champion on the night as the Reds were a class apart, enjoying a scoring rate of 64 percent in two-pointers and collecting 43 rebounds against Caja Laboral’s 27.

At no point during the game did the hosts threaten Olympiakos, who led 47-40 at half-time and broke away in the third period in which it scored 22 points against 11.

Kyle Hines was the top scorer for the Greek club with 18 points, followed by Vassilis Spanoulis with 14.

The game also marked the Euroleague debut for Josh Powell, the former LA Lakers star, who scored 12 points for Olympiakos with five out of six two-pointers and four rebounds.
