List drawn up of illegal buildings for demolition
The Regional Authority of the Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian is the first to begin compiling a list of all illegal buildings in forests and on the coastline, Kathimerini has learned.
So far, 1,042 properties from 12 prefectures have been registered on a database that could be used to knock down the buildings.
“The registration process is continuing and we are adding information,” said the head of the technical department responsible for the checks, Panayiotis Vayiotas.
“We have collected the tax numbers of the building owners as the cost of demolition will be added to their tax bills.”
