Proportion of uninsured workers leaps to 35 pct in 2011

The percentage of Greek workers who are employed without social insurance rose to 35 percent last year, according to the head of the Labor Inspectorate, Michalis Kandarakis.

The proportion of uninsured workers had stood at 29 percent in 2010, Kandarakis told Skai TV on Friday.

He added that there has been a sharp rise this year in the number of employers who have converted their employees’ contracts from full- to part-time.
