Vice-rector on trial for misusing funds

Yiannis Pantis, vice rector of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in northern Greece, has been ordered to appear in court on charges of breach of faith.

The Aristotle vice rector is accused of allegedly using university funding to pay for a smartphone device that was subsequently given as a gift to television and stage actress Natalia Dragoumi.

Also facing charges in the same case is the former commercial director of the Thessaloniki store where the smartphone was allegedly purchased. The latter is alleged to have blackmailed the rectorate of the university over the aforementioned acquisition.
