Lagarde list committee to be named on Monday

A parliamentary committee that will investigate former Finance Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou over his handling of the Lagarde list of Greek depositors will be formed late Monday or Tuesday.

The committee is to be led by New Democracy MP Christos Markoyiannakis, a vice speaker in Parliament, Kathimerini understands. It is to comprise 15 MPs from the various parties, three more than Parliament regulations dictate in view of the increased number of parties in the House. ND is expected to appoint Lazaros Tsavdaridis, Costas Koutsoyiannopoulos and Adonis Georgiadis, among others. The leftwing opposition SYRIZA is to offer three members – Zoe Constantopoulou, Theodoris Dritsas and Stavros Kontonis. Socialist PASOK will likely be represented by Apostolos Kaklamanis and Panagiotis Rigas, while each of the smaller parties will appoint one MP, with one official representing independent deputies.

Meanwhile prosecutors are to question a former advisor to Papaconstantinou and a former aide to the ex-chief of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) Yiannis Diotis, Galateia Mane.

Diotis claims to have asked an aide to copy a memory stick given to him by Papaconstantinou onto another flash drive and erase the original. A 120-page report submitted to Parliament by prosecutors reportedly points to the existence of several copies of the original memory stick with some files dating back to April 2009, long before Papaconstantinou claimed to have received the data from French authorities.
