Leros baby dies in Iraklio ICU

An infant that had been transferred to an intensive-care unit at Iraklio Hospital on Crete on Saturday, where it was diagnosed as being malnourished, died Tuesday aged just 34 days.

Doctors at the hospital said that they had made efforts to save the baby but added that it had already been suffering from hypothermia and multiple organ failure when it arrived on Crete from the island of Leros.

The infant’s mother is being counseled by psychologists. It was not clear what led to the baby suffering such health problems.
