Suspect in deadly arson attack released due to lack of evidence

A 32-year-old man charged in connection with an arson attack on a branch of Marfin Egnatia Bank in May 2010 that killed three people was granted conditional release late on Friday after a magistrate deemed that there was insufficient evidence to keep him in custody.

The 32-year-old, who said he attended the anti-austerity rally on the day of the attack but denied any connection to the arsonists, has been banned from leaving the country and from attending any demonstrations. He must also report regularly to his local police station.
