Realizing our potential
The investment made by Chinese shipping giant Cosco at the Piraeus cargo terminal is of strategic significance to Greece. However, for the investment to bring even more benefits to the country, it is crucial for the port to be linked to the rail network in order to facilitate the transport of goods.
The fact is that there are many multinational companies that have expressed an interest in transporting their goods to the rest of Europe via Piraeus. This interest is an opportunity that should not be allowed to go to waste. The dynamic development of the country’s main port could result in Greece becoming a crucial transport hub in Southern Europe.
Given that it is always best to strike when the iron is hot, there should be no more delays in important infrastructure projects such as the port rail link that have, unfortunately, been allowed to lie dormant for years.
