Cyprus expects Greek support in Eurogroup

Ahead of the crucial Eurogroup session on Sunday evening, Cypriots expect strong support from Athens, after the island’s President has already confirmed Greece’s backing throughout the crisis.

Dimitris Papadakis, the secretary of EDEK, Cyprus’s social democrats, stated on Sunday that Cyprus wants «substantial assistance from Greece in tonight’s Eurogroup.”

“We need practical assistance from Greece because Eurogroup’s attitude continues to be that of a blackmail, and purely anti-European, said the official of one of Cyprus’s opposition parties.

On Friday President Nicos Anastasiades thanked Athens for its support to Cyprus.
