Hospitals on alert over Golden Dawn plans to organize blood drive
The union representing state hospital workers on Thursday appealed to staff to be on alert ahead of plans by members of ultra-right Golden Dawn to organize blood donations at hospitals around the country on Saturday.
In a statement, the union called on staff to prevent members of the neo-Nazi party from turning blood donations into a “celebration of national and racial purity.” The statement also condemned the party for its “fixation on such initiatives despite the outcry of society and professional bodies.”
A group of around 25 suspected members of Golden Dawn were thrown out of Nikaia General Hospital in Piraeus on Wednesday after entering wearing motorcycle helmets and wielding clubs.
