Troika inspectors to arrive in Athens on June 4
A delegation of technocrats of the troika of the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund will arrive in Athens on June 4 to assess Greece’s progress, reports said Tuesday.
However a senior official at the country’s Finance Ministry told Skai that the “main inspection” by the troika will take place in autumn.
According to the same official, if negotiations with the troika proceed smoothly, the Greek government may get the green light to introduce a lower VAT, or sales tax, for restaurants as of July 1st – a concession it hopes will help to alleviate the crisis.
