Golden Dawn changes Greeks-only food handout location following police ban

Far right Golden Dawn on Wednesday announced that it was moving a free food handout scheduled to take place on the same day to another location after police announced a ban on any kind of public gathering in central Athens, froon noon to midnight.

According to Golden Dawn the handout, addressed exclusively to Greek citizens, was expected to take place outside the party’s headquarters near the central Larissis train station at 6 p.m.

The far right party had initially intended to organize the handout on Attikis Square.

On Tuesday, Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis issued a statement noting that the party had not received permission to hold the event. Golden Dawn insisted it had notified authorities in time and had a right to go ahead with its plans.
