Stocks remain on upward trajectory

While some investors cashed in their stock gains racked up in previous days, the upward momentum at the local bourse continued unabated on Thursday, with 2014 having only seen sessions of growth for the benchmark index.

The ATHEX general index closed at 1,289.98 points to register yet another 30-month high, adding 0.83 percent to Wednesday’s 1,279.41 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded 0.90 percent to end at 424.22 points.

The OPAP gaming company and Public Power Corporation led blue chips with respective gains of 3.76 percent and 3.50 percent. Terna Energy grew by 2.61 percent.

Properties declined by 2.82 percent and Frigoglass gave up 2.50 percent.

In total 99 stocks were gainers, with 42 losers and 26 non-movers.

Turnover amounted to 119.2 million euros, down from Wednesday’s 149.6 million.
