Germany plans to replace Athens ambassador, report says
Germany plans to replace its ambassador to Athens Wolfgang Dold, the German News Agency (DPA) has reported. He will be succeeded by Peter Schoof, who is head of the European Union department at the German Foreign Office, the report said.
Unknown gunmen opened fire at Dold’s residence in Halandri, just north of Athens, on December 30. No one was injured in the raid.
Steinmeier said the decision had been made before the attack on Dold’s home.
