Amendment scrapping 25-euro hospital fee tabled in Parliament

The government on Friday tabled an amendment abolishing a controversial 25-euro fee for public hospitals. Under the same amendment the fee is instead passed on to tobacco product prices which will go up by 5 cents.

The bill was included in a bill by the Agriculture Ministry.

The price hike is expected to generate some 40 million euros in revenues, in line with government targets.
