Ex-MP Liapis now accused of tax dodging [Update]
Authorities in Karpenisi, central Greece, on Monday confirmed allegations that former Transport Minister Michalis Liapis had understated the size of his holiday home in the area in order to avoid paying taxes.
Inspectors found that the property in Megalo Chorio was 233 square meters whereas Liapis had for the past three years be paying taxes corresponding to a property of 70 sq.m., a statement by the municipality said. Liapis has allegedly avoided paying an annual 250 euros in taxes.
“The municipality will immediately take all legal procedures to claim the outstanding debts,” the statement said.
