SDOE chief to brief Parliament on ‘Lagarde list’ probe

The head of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) was due on Tuesday to present Parliament’s ethics and transparency committee with a report on the progress made by his department in investigating a list of Greeks with large deposits at a branch of HSBC in Geneva.

Stelios Stasinopoulos was invited by leftists SYRIZA to report SDOE’s progress in the investigation, aimed at discovering whether the depositors on the list that was given to Greek authorities in 2010 by France’s then-Finance Minister Christine Lagarde, have dodged taxes in Greece.

A judicial investigation into the list – which includes the names of family members of ex-Finance Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou who is accused of tampering with the list – is being conducted by special Supreme Court prosecutor Iosif Tsalaganidis.
