After protest, Greek minister says hospital visits will go on, but in secret
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis has vowed to pay a surprise visit to at least one state hospital per week despite being jeered yesterday when he inspected Aghia Olga Hospital in Athens.
Georgiadis played the hostile reception down as “a minor incident by a minority, which does not represent most Greeks.”
“When I go somewhere unannounced so those on the far left do not have a chance to gather, I never have any problems,” he insisted.
“When others find out I am going, they want to make a show of it.”
Georgiadis said he wants to keep carrying out the visits so he can speak to patients and find out from them what problems they are facing.
