NBG to issue 200 mln in mortgage loans in 2014

National Bank of Greece has set a target of increasing the number of new loans to be issued this year by lending over 200 million euros to households considered to have a healthy financial status, compared with about 100 million euros used for the issue of new mortgage loans issued in 2013 by the whole of the country’s banking system, the assistant director general for retail banking at NBG, Georgios Maliyiannis, told Kathimerini.

He estimated that 2014 will be the year of stabilization in the property market following a constant decline from 2009 to 2013.
