Coast guard officers were searching on Monday for 12 immigrants that fell into the sea off Farmakonisi as their boat was being towed to safety.
According to authorities, a coast guard patrol boat spotted the vessel carrying the migrants 1.5 nautical miles from the Dodecanese islet.
As they were towing the boat to safety, two immigrants jumped into the sea and the vessel capsized. Coast guard officer pulled 16 people from the water but were looking for another 12.
A Super Puma helicopter is helping in the search for the missing migrants.
