Unbelievable oversight

One of the terms in the deal Greece signed with its international creditors in exchange for bailout funding is that the state must draw up a comprehensive list of all the property and real estate assets it owns on Greek soil, which would include details of their exact status.

As unbelievable as it may sound, such a list does not exist, not even for one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in Attica, down on the capital’s southern coast, known locally as the Athenian riviera.

What is even more incredible is that the Agricultural Ministry and other state services are refusing to hand over the information needed for such a list to be compiled.

The fact that the Greek state cannot be sure of what it owns and where shows, once more, that it is completely incapable of putting its house in order and taking the steps necessary for it to draw up a plan on how to utilize its assets.
