Bookings from big tourism markets grow 10 pct

Bookings for tourism packages from abroad this year seem to confirm expectations for an all-time record in arrivals to Greece, according to the head of the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation, Yiannis Retsos.

Retsos said that bookings from Germany, Britain and Russia – Greece’s main markets – are 10 percent above those recorded at the same time last year. The Scandinavian market is also showing an 8 percent increase.

He added that the sale of the Astir Palace hotel complex on Athens’s southern coast and the sale of additional seats offered by carriers for the capital will add to this year’s tourism growth.
