Father and son arrested in Thessaloniki for tricking pensioners

A father and son, as well as a third man, have been arrested on suspicion of scamming pensioners in Thessaloniki, other parts of the north and central Greece as well.

The 54-year-old father, his 29-year-old son and the third man, 49, were arrested after allegedly pretending to be tax inspectors and convincing pensioners to give them money to settle arrears.

A fourth man, aged 40, is being sought in connection with the scam. The 54-year-old had been arrested in August 2008 on suspicion of running a similar confidence trick.
