Mitroglou aiming at the Premier League

Costas Mitroglou is reportedly on the verge of signing a lucrative contract with Premier League club Fulham for the next four years, fetching up to 15 million euros to Olympiakos, that is said to be eyeing Paraguay international Nelson Valdez as the Greece striker’s replacement.

Olympiakos sources confirmed that the Greek champions have rejected an 11-million-euro offer by Fulham, but reports converge to the information that Fulham has returned with a second offer around 14 million euros, with Olympiakos said to demand at least 14.5 million to close the deal.

The West London outfit, that also has Greece captain Giorgos Karagounis in its roster, is reported to be offering Mitroglou a four-year contract with an annual salary between 2.5-2.7 million euros. It is said to have obtained the permit from Olympiakos to talk directly with the player and he has reportedly agreed to the transfer by the end of this week.

If the top scorer of the Greek league does leave Piraeus, the Reds will have a major gap in their attack ahead of their Champions League duel with Manchester United in a few weeks’ time. It would also come just a few days after the departure of winger Vladimir Weiss to Qatar.

This is why they have already started looking at a number of options among players available in the January transfer window and reports say that Valdez is the favorite to become Mitroglou’s replacement. The former Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund striker is plying his trade at Al Jazira Club of Abu Dhabi.
