A European Parliament team of officials began a two-day visit to Athens on Wednesday as part of an inquiry into the troika.
The seven-member team was examining the results yielded by the programs devised by the troika — the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund –- and implemented in European countries undergoing fiscal adjustment.
Participating in the team were Austria’s Ottmar Karas, a European Parliament vice president, and French MEP Liem Hoang-Ngoc.
The group’s agenda included meetings with Parliamentary Speaker Evangelos Meimarakis, Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras as well as high-ranking bank executives and representatives of local labor unions.
