Air traffic to be disrupted on Thursday

Air traffic controllers across the country were expected to participate in a three-hour stoppage on Thursday, the Greek Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (GATCA) announced on Wednesday. Flights were expected to be disrupted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Overlights would not be affected, the union said.

The industrial action was called in order for union members to join colleagues in other European countries as part of a two-day strike action regarding issues concerning the viability of air navigation service providers (ANSPs).

Strikes affecting travel throughout Europe began on Wednesday, as unions protested planned cost cutting and reforms in the sector.

On Wednesday, Deutsche Lufthansa AG canceled 42 flights, while discount carrier Ryanair Holdings Plc announced it had canceled over 80 flights.
