Fulham announces Mitroglou transfer

Fulham FC confirmed on Friday the signing of Greece striker Costas Mitroglou from Olympiakos for the next four-and-a-half years.

Although the Premier League club did not reveal the cost of the transfer, reports converge to the sum of 15.2 million euros to Olympiakos plus 2.8 million to the agents who brokered the deal with the top scorer of the Greek Super league.

“Fulham Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Greece international Constantinos Mitroglou on a four-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee, seeing the player at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2018,” read the English club’s statement.

The 25-year-old forward underwent a medical test in London and on Friday signed the deal that is said to fetch him some 2.7 million euros per year.

His transfer constitutes a new record for a Greek player transfer, smashing the 10-million-euro record from the move of Giourkas Seitaridis from FC Porto to Dynamo Moscow in 2005.

Olympiakos has already agreed to sign Nelson Valdez as Mitroglou’s replacement, while being close to adding fellow Paraguayan, Villarreal winger Hernan Perez, to replace departed Vladimir Weiss.
