Third day of gains puts stock index above 1,200 points

The third consecutive session of gains for the local bourse sent the benchmark above the 1,200-point level on Monday as investors seem to have recovered their appetite for buying on reports that Greece’s eurozone partners will intervene this spring to ensure the country’s debt is sustainable.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,208.14 points, adding 2.67 percent to Friday’s 1,176.92 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded 2.25 percent to 393.94 points.

Folli Follie was the blue chip with the biggest gains, rising 6.49 percent, followed by Hellenic Exchanges (up 6.17 percent) and Titan Cement (4.97 percent), while Eurobank Properties declined by 2.25 percent and Coca-Cola HBC fell 1.73 percent.

In total 99 stock posted gains, 37 registered losses and 18 stayed unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 103 million euros, up from Friday’s 80.9 million euros.
