Cretan farmers blockade public building in Hania

Farmers protesting a law that increases their taxation and obliges them to keep accounting books on Monday blockaded the building housing the public finances service and administrative courts in the Cretan port city of Hania as part of nationwide action against the new measures.

The Enotita Federation of Hania Farmers’ Associations said that the blockade of the building would last at least two days, adding that farmers would also be lining up their tractors along the national highway between Hania and Rethymno at noon on Tuesday.
