Tired, old candidates

The political system does nothing but propagate the widespread sense of disappointment that the electorate already feels when it continues to recycle the same tired, old names from among party ranks and nominates them as candidates for local elections.

Citizens are calling for political rejuvenation, new names, new faces and new people who can solve the problems faced by communities on a day-to-day basis and not necessarily people whose only qualification is loyal membership to the party backing them.

Greece’s political parties often give the impression that they are functioning in a little world of their own, a closed circuit that prevents them from understanding the public’s needs and demands.

In times such as these, when people are angry and discouraged, when they are looking for new faces and new ideas, nothing could be worse than ignoring them.
