Coast guard rescues 37 migrants from half-sunken boat off Lesvos

Thirty-seven migrants were rescued from a boat south of the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos, the coast guard said on Thursday.

The migrants, who were found in a boat that was taking on water, were taken to the island capital Mytilene, where they received first-aid treatment. None was injured.

They were subsequently arrested for failing to produce valid travel documents.

There was no mention of their nationalities.
