Greek drama ‘At Home’ gets critics’ award at Berlinale

The independent Ecumenical Jury of the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, comprising Christian filmmakers and critics, on Saturday awarded a Greek entry in the Forum section of the event, “Sto Spiti” (At Home) by Athanasios Karanikolas.

The drama, which represents the filmmaker’s third feature, stars Maria Kallimani as a housekeeper who is made redundant by her wealthy employers after years of loyal service when she becomes seriously ill.

The event’s top prize, the Golden Bear, went to “Black Hole, Thin Ice” by Bai Ri Yan Huo, while the Silver Bear was awarded by the Grand Jury to “The Grand Budapest Hotel” by Wes Anderson.
