Scandinavian visitor growth to exceed 10 pct
Scandinavian tourism professionals expect traffic to Greece from the traditionally philhellenic market to grow by 10 to 11 percent this year, while Sweden alone will post an increase of up to 10 percent.
This was the conclusion drawn from meetings that the general secretary of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Constantinos Zikos, had in Stockholm during the first Greece-exclusive tourism fair in the Swedish capital (‘Grekland Panorama’), organized by the Tourism Development Ministry and the GNTO.
Particular interest was shown in Athens as a destination thanks to the launch of new flights by Aegean Airlines to link the Greek capital with Stockholm and Copenhagen this summer and the increase in the frequency of services by other companies, such as SAS.
Separately, the chief executive of German tour operator Alltours, Willi Verhuven, said he expects the number of his customers visiting Greece to return to the pre-crisis level of 200,000 this year.
