Plans to help energy-dependent industries to be unveiled
Development Minister Costis Hadzidakis on Tuesday pledged to unveil within the next few days a string of measures to help energy-dependent industries amid calls from major steel and other producers for cheaper energy costs.
Speaking at a conference of representatives of the aluminum industry, Hadzidakis stressed that the measures will include breaks on electricity as well as natural gas rates.
He added that a newly established biministerial committee on industrial policy will be convening for the first time on Friday. The committee is tasked with boosting Greek industrial output through targeted strategies. The high cost of energy is expected to top the agenda at the first meeting.
