Crackdown on uninsured labor bears fruit
Inspections carried out on businesses across various sectors of the economy from September through January resulted in nearly 11 million euros’ worth of fines being issued, the Labor Ministry announced on Thursday.
Joint teams of the Labor Inspectorate and IKA Social Security Foundation conducted checks on 7,878 businesses, employing a total of 49,126 people, in that five-month period. Of these 49,126 workers, 1,063 were found to be uninsured, leading to fines of 10,839,987 euros, the ministry said.
