Sakis Boulas, versatile funnyman, dead at 60

Boisterous singer, songwriter and actor Sakis Boulas has died at the age of 60.

Boulas passed away on Friday morning in Athens, several months after being diagnosed with cancer.

He was born in Kilkis, in northern Greece, but grew up in the port city of Piraeus.

The versatile artist made several studio albums and wrote songs for other musicians while starring in dozens of TV series and on the big screen including the cult classic “O Drakoulas ton Exarheion” (Dracula from Exarcheia) where a mad scientist creates the band Music Brigades from body parts of dead musicians and “As Perimenoun oi Gynaikes” (Let the women wait).
