Policeman shot by bank robbers in Peloponnese

Police in Achaia, in the Peloponnese, on Monday were seeking the two perpetrators behind an armed holdup of a bank in the village of Kleitoria which resulted in the injury of a policeman.

Before the pair fled the bank, with some 4,000 euros in loot, they exchanged fire with police who had been called to the scene.

One of the gunmen shot an officer in the leg before disarming him.

The charred remains of the pair’s getaway car were found a short distance from the bank.
