TAIPED to oversee sale of 167 properties to investors

A total of 167 properties, including the Prosfygika housing complex in Athens, have been passed on to the TAIPED privatization fund to be sold to private investors.

The transfer was made on a decision by the interministerial committee for asset restructuring and privatizations. Assets to go on sale include a property belonging to the Greek Embassy in Washington, a plot of land in Hatfield, a suburb of Pretoria, South Africa, and a property in the Armenian capital Yerevan.

TAIPED will also oversee the sale of two venues built for the 2004 Athens Olympics – the Olympic Sports Hall in Galatsi and the Equestrian Center in Markopoulo. The fund will also have the right to lease the Rowing Center at Schinias, northern Attica, to third parties for development.

The decision has also approved the transfer to TAIPED of 15 properties in Plaka, central Athens, the Xenia hotel in Platamonas, northern Greece, and several plots of land across the country.
