EOPYY staff called back to work before polyclinics reopen

More than 8,000 doctors and nurses who are employed by the National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY) but have been in a labor mobility scheme for the past month have been asked to visit the EOPYY polyclinics on Thursday ahead of the scheduled launch next week of the Primary National Healthcare Network (PEDY) which is to replace EOPYY.

Of some 5,000 EOPYY doctors, around half are said to have expressed an interest in returning to work at PEDY clinics.

As part of a streamlining of the public health sector demanded by Greece’s international creditors, EOPYY doctors were told to choose between continuing to work for the new network or their private practices.
