Cyprus defense minister hospitalized after stroke, heart attack
The Cypriot Defense Minister Tasos Mitsopoulos was hospitalised in Nicosia on Friday after suffering a stroke which prompted a heart attack, doctors said.
Mitsopoulos, 48, was transferred to Nicosia’s general hospital after being found unconscious in his office by his colleagues, according to local reports.
Doctors said Mitsopoulos was in a serious but stable condition.
He had recently assumed his duties as defense minister following a stint at the ministry of communications and works.
